Following up on the fact that a user with the ability to only view certain documents / indices can see the index in Kibana that they don’t have access to (Just the index, not the docs!):

Is there a way to set a default index for a certain user? For example, when a member logs in, it’s always taking them to a auth-* index which is the default however they don’t have access to docs in this index so they are welcome by errors.
Is it possible to set a user to have a certain default, I appreciate this is probably to do with Kibana rather than Search Guard, but I thought I would ask regardless
As a side note, should none admin users see the “Management” section?

In Kibana you can set only one index pattern as default. However, you can use our multi tenancy feature to set up indices, visualizations and dashboards on a per-role basis:
