We are glad to announce the next release of Search Guard.
Most importantly, Search Guard 49 brings you our new API Auth Token Service.
This feature allows any user logged into Search Guard to create access tokens which can be used for external applications, scripts, etc. without having to use a password. Auth tokens can have a limited set of permissions, a limited lifetime and can be revoked by the user.
Furthermore, we did some work on performance optimizations regarding ES operations with Search Guard installed. As first result, we can roll out an optimization for bulk requests, which greatly reduces latency.
On the Kibana side, we have improvements for the internal user database configuration UI and the role configuration UI .
Furthermore, Search Guard 49 brings some more minor improvements and a couple of bugfixes. See the release notes for the complete list:

As always, we appreciate your feedback, questions, and feature requests here on the forum.
Have fun and have a great weekend!
Many greetings from the Search Guard team
