# Search Guard 5 is on its way ... SSL part officially released

Hi all,

after a couple of weeks of intensive work, we’re proud to say that Search Guard 5 is nearly finished. Today we’re announcing the official release of Search Guard 5 SSL, which provides TLS encryption on the REST and transport layer:

If all goes well expect the official release of Search Guard 5 at the end of this week. Fingers crossed.
